PremierDelivered.com Say– ‘WE DELIVER’

The most convenient way to shop for local products in the Ipswich area, premierdelivered.com, is supporting local business by teaming up with 4 local businesses to offer an unprecedented service.

Premierdelivered.com have been on a mission to make their mark in the Ipswich retail industry since their launch in December 2008. Initially the convenience store on Russell Road in the town was launched with great success and with much appreciation from local council workers.

Since this time, owner Tom West launched a groundbreaking delivery service premierdelivered.com which offers a same day delivery service for his complete range of 1,800 in store lines, from freshly baked bread to cases or beer, the store is able to cope with any requirements of a party or more importantly caters for people who are unable to get to a store themselves. Since the success of the delivery service Mr West has gone one step further and joined forces with Subway & Proctors Sausages in Ipswich, Paddy & Scott’s Coffee of Earl Soham and Smugglers Pudding Company of Hadleigh to offer a complete section of local produce directly to the doorsteps of local people. Plans are afoot to also deliver seasonal vegetable boxes from local producers, and dry cleaning collection from your door.

Owner Tom West says ‘it is really important in these difficult times that businesses and people in local areas stick together and support each other, I love helping my customers by delivering their groceries directly into their homes, it’s a really great service for people with young kids, or people with physical challenges that make grocery shopping a real hardship. As well as helping my customers, these new alliances with other local businesses are a sure way to keep our money in our community – each £1 spent with a local business can go round the community up to 6 times! Each pound at a supermarket only 3p will come back into the community’, he continues to say ‘this service also offers the other businesses the chance to reach customers who they may not have been able to market themselves to previously, it really is a winning formula for well serviced and cared for customers along with support and growth for local businesses’ Premierdelivered is pleased to announce the arrival of its new express delivery vehicle. Our Smart is one of the greenest cars on the road averaging almost 70mpg. With its underestimated loading capacity, our Smart is perfect for those express deliveries. The new Smart is in addition to our dual temperature controlled Iveco van, this allows us to keep your shopping at the perfect temperature.

New business joins the fightback

A BUSINESSMAN from Ipswich is today taking on the supermarket giants with a new online home-delivery service.

Thomas West believes his Premier shop, in Russell Road, is the first independent convenience store in the UK to launch into that part of the market.
He claims he can outmanoeuvre the muscle of the big retailers with quicker deliveries, pledging an order-to-door response of less than one hour.
The 25-year-old said: “The supermarkets have got it wrong. They are doing deliveries for market share whereas we are doing it for the community.

“We were looking at ways we could increase our business, knowing it is quiet after 7pm. A lot of people - including single mums and disabled customers - use the service for essential needs.”

Mr West, who trades under the Premier banner, launched Premierdelivered.com off his own back after pitching his idea to the company.

Orders are sent to his mobile and then forwarded to staff, who collect the items ready for him to deliver at the specified time.

He has taken on some extra staff to help, but he is on call all day every day, being available up until 3am on a Sunday morning.

Mr West, who also owns Tonic bar, is also in talks with restaurants to offer takeaway orders through the website.

Since opening the store in December, Mr West says the business has grown 10 per cent month by month.

He said: “I moved from restaurants and bars to stores because independent shops tend to grow during a recession.

“It seems to be a better business for someone of my age who wants to go on and run other businesses.”

Mr West hopes to expand his investments by taking over struggling convenience stores and setting up more deliveries services in the future.

Picture This... Yellow is the colour for indies' week

Thomas West, a Premier Express retailer from Ipswich, was one of thousands of independent retailers across the UK to don their yellow T-shirts this week for National Independents' Week. West offered food sampling and wine tasting at his store and gave away fresh fruit, tea and coffee. Organiser My Shop Is Your Shop hailed the week as a huge success, having been supported by a number of manufacturers and wholesalers.
